After over 20 years in the field of psychology and social work, I continue to feel a deep passion for the work I provide to my clients while consistently developing my personal and professional skills. I enjoy working with adults and adolescents in all capacities. Witnessing the transformation as people move from wounded, unbalanced, and fearful to becoming empowered, focused, and self-reliant is one of the greatest rewards. The power of growth never fails to amaze me, and I am grateful to be part of your journey.
I completed my Bachelor of Science at Colorado State University in 1993 and then moved to California, where I worked in a juvenile hall as a group counselor. While maintaining that position, I also helped open a long-term, inpatient, adult psychiatric hospital, working as a social worker. I entered the Master of Social Work Program at California State University, San Bernardino, and completed internships at Riverside County Mental Health, working with children, families, and adults. After graduating with an MSW, I moved back to Colorado and took a position at Ft. Logan Mental Health's inpatient Adolescent Unit.
Working toward eventually opening a private practice, I gained experience at Mines and Associates as a counselor, providing individual, couples, and family therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. During this time, I also worked at Southwest Family Therapy, where I conducted court-ordered domestic violence groups for both men and women.
In 2002, I opened my private practice, offering counseling services to individuals, couples, and families for people ages 15 and up. I use a cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused approach, specializing in anxiety, depression, relationships, and trauma. Each client receives tailored goals and tools to apply outside of our counseling sessions, as I believe much of the progress occurs between our meetings.
In 2011, I became a YogaFit-certified yoga instructor and now offer a cutting-edge opportunity in my practice by combining psychotherapy and yoga. This integration of mind, body, and spirit has proven to facilitate maximum life changes. I am excited to offer this holistic approach to individuals and in group seminars.
